Our guest book is full of compliments and gratitude for the cleanliness and comfort of the hostel and the helpfulness of the staff. We have a great choice of rooms available, an en-suite double or triple room with a huge bed, spacious doubles - some with wardrobes, a family room, a room with two double beds, a room with a large sofa bed, a good-sized Wendy House with a double bed and a fantastic 8 bed dorm (that everyone thinks is great and which can be increased for group bookings) with two basins and showers attached. We will happily accommodate single occupancy in the doubles, sofa room or Wendy. It is your choice. Our beds are all comfortable (many purchased in the last year) with duvets/comforters and pillows and we can provide extra blankets or even sleeping bags (R5 hire) to keep any cold nights at bay! As for our other rooms… we have a fully equipped kitchen you are welcome to make use of. Tea and coffee is free all day. Our toilets and showers include a large one person bathroom. We supply towels and we have powerful showers with hot water all day and a laundry room for your washing at very reasonable rates.
Around our large lounge you will find numerous bean bags where you can relax and watch DSTV, or when not in use as a bedroom get a little extra peace with the sofa room where you can read, play board games or simply have a chat while looking out at the garden. In a separate room there is an excellent pool table. Outside, our large garden has plenty of space for you to soak up some rays near our swimming pool.
There is a great lapa with braai facilities and bench tables to enjoy your food, a dart board and a great bonfire area to enjoy a chat and a few beers. We let the mood and our guests decide whether it will be a lively or quiet night, either way we will do our best to ensure you get what you want! We are a Baz Bus stop and we are able to organise car hire at extremely competitive rates. We also offer ISIC and VIP card holders discounts as well as discounts to those guests who are able to provide proof of working in the Peace Corps or doing volunteer work.
NB! There are two Arcadia Streets in Hatfield! We are on the University Sports Fields side of Duncan Street. If coming from Pretoria centre… take Church Street or Schoeman Street, turn right into Hilda towards Hatfield (go across Arcadia Street!) and turn left into Park Street. Go to the end of Park Street, crossing Duncan Street in the process, and when reaching the Maratimo Sports Ground turn left into Richard Street and first right into Arcadia Street. 1322 backpackers is on the left.
