Situated 5 minutes from the centre of Dundee, this clean and friendly little lodge is set in the heart of the Battlefields (Anglo, Zulu & Boer), between Durban and Jo'burg and within easy driving distance of the Drakensberg mountains, Zululand game reserves and St Lucia Wetlands World Heritage Site.
We have one double room, one twin-bedroom and two dorms with a double bunk in each. Large bathroom with shower, hand-basin and toilet plus a separate toilet.There is a functional, well equipped kitchen for self-catering. The bathroom has a large shower, toilet and hand-basin and there is a separate toilet and hand-basin. There is always plenty of hot water.We provide off-street parking, towels and bed linen and, at a nominal fee, laundry and internet/e-mail. Outside there is a "conversation fire-pit" and braai area where guests may socialise.
Both Moira and Evan are a source of information on the area having lived in Dundee for over 30 years. Evan, who is a well known registered tourist guide, offers tours at special prices for BBI guests to all the KZN Battlefields, game reserves and the Drakensberg as well as any other tours clients may request. In addition we are also able arrange hiking, birding and adventure tourism with other local specialists.We have a cosy and comfortable lounge where guests may relax, read or put a few pieces in the jigsaw puzzle. Drive through ladysmith and onto the n11 towards newcastle. 23 kms outside ladysmith take the right turn onto the r602 to dundee via the glencoe bypass. after hitting the rumble strips the other side of glencoe, turn right at the t-junction. Turn right again at the next t-junction - you are now in karellandman street in dundee .At the first traffic light turn right into tatham street drive over the railway bridge and you will see the Dundee high school playing fields on your right. Turn into the first street on your left which is Beaconsfield street – Bbi sign with arrow on school hostel fence. When you see the concrete palisade fence of the railway station in front of you on left you will see another bbi sign with arrow on right corner house , turn right into cuthbert street (no street sign). we are the last house on the left with a concrete wall and green
Automatic gate with light , before getting to victoria street - the main street in dundee. you will see the bbi sign at the gate and, also on the little cottage straight ahead.Ring bell, when opened drive in and park in front of cottage.
