Route 62 is the tourist route in South Africa's Western and Eastern Cape that meanders between Cape Town and Oudtshoorn, the Langkloof and Port Elizabeth. It offers a shorter, scenic alternative to the N2 highway. This is an area of magnificent landscapes and towering cliffs, crystal clear streams and an abundance of trees and indigenous flora that all combine to form one of the country's most diverse regions.
The ever changing colours of the majestic mountains, scenic passes, rivers, vineyards and orchards, as well as the multitude of attractions, will offer you an unforgettable adventure. The easily accessible towns, nestled along the valleys, all offer ample opportunity for discovery. Route 62 has excellent wineries and game reserves, tribal art, cultural tours, museums and for the more adventurous hiking trails, mountain climbing, 4x4 routes, canoeing, horse (an ostrich!) riding, fishing and caving.
Route 62 prompts associations with the legendary Route 66 byway that connects the urban and rural communities between Chicago and Los Angeles. In the same manner Route 62 links Cape Town in the Western Cape with Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape. Make regular stops along Route 62 to indulge in the fine local produce and taste the reds and whites along the extended wine route in this region, stretching from Cogmanskloof outside Montagu in the west, as far as the hamlet of De Rust near Meiringspoort in the east.

Fantastic base to explore the Route 62 and surrounding towns. Wine tasting, river rafting and mountain hikes are just a few ways to enjoy the country life.
