Tucked away safely from the hustle and bustle of city living, just two and a half hours from Johannesburg and Pretoria, Mieliepop Songtuary 2012 will host the best Rock, Reggae and Blues artists, offering South African rockers opportunity to experience Uriah Heep live in an intimate festival setting amongst only 3,000 other festival goers.
With tickets starting from only R400 per person for a full weekend pass and the opportunity to win a VIP Mieliepop experience simply by using the online referral system, tickets are sure to go fast.
In response to the requests for pre-pitched tents, Mieliepop 2012 sees the introduction of the Mieliepop VIP Tented hotel: The perfect solution for all festival-goers who prefer to arrive to their very own personal camping haven, complete with your own tent and matress, a restaurant, pool, waterfall, bar, hot showers, an acoustic stage (mornings only), friendly staff, electricity points for cell phone charging, zero noise from the stages and a cooked breakfast daily.
This year’s festival sees two main stages: The Spring-Mielie stage (adjacent to the main stage) that will host amazing new talent.
The main stage will feature local favourites, including Jeremy Loops, Hot Water, Feed the Wolf, Dan Patlansky and The Tidal Waves alongside international rock legends Uriah Heep.
Uriah Heep's progressive rock style made them one of the most popular hard rock groups of the early '70s, a legacy that they continue to uphold to this day; 40 years later.
Heep debuted in 1970 with the release of one of Hard Rock music’s milestones “Very 'eavy... Very 'umble” and have since sold in excess of 30 millions albums worldwide. They constantly tour in the world, playing in over 53 countries (up to 250 shows a year) and the band’s live set list features hits from the 70s and 80s, such as “The Wizard”, “Free ‘n Easy”, “Sunrise” and their monster hits “Easy Livin’”, “July Morning” and “Lady in Black”, as well as new material.
Due to the intimate, laid-back nature of Mieliepop, Uriah Heep fans will be thrilled to hear that the band is moving-in for the entire weekend to enjoy the local SA music talent alongside festival-goers.
