Once in Botswana, head straight for the Okavango Delta, the world's largest inland delta (measuring 15,000 sq kms/5790 sq miles). The Delta is roughly cone-shaped and about 175km (110 miles) long from its top to its base near the tourist capital of Maun. If it's game viewing and game drives you are looking for, this is the spot. The Delta has wide variety of wildlife that can be explored via game viewing flights over the submerged floodplains, walking safaris (led by game guides) in the shallow waters between the uninhabited islands or on a canoeing expedition, undertaken in a tradition mokoro (narrow hardwood canoe). Fishing is another activity the Okavango Delta is famous for. There are about 70 different species of fish found here, but the prize catch amongst them are the fierce tigerfish.
