Route 62 is the tourist route in South Africa's Western and Eastern Cape that meanders between Cape Town and Oudtshoorn, the Langkloof and Port Elizabeth. It offers a shorter, scenic alternative to the N2 highway and there are a lot of spectacular sightseeing opportunities along the way. The route meanders through South Africa's most fertile valleys and you will find some of the country's leading wine regions here, offering everything from wine tours, wine tasting and excellent restaurants, bars and picnic spots. The Breede River gives life to the Robertson and Worcester Wine Valley. Further along the way the Klein Karoo Wine Route offers some excellent wineries and game viewing at reserves, cultural tours, museums, hiking trails and more daring activities such as mountain climbing, canoeing and horse (an ostrich!) riding. A newer attraction, the R62 Brandy Route is also situated here. Arrive thirsty!
