Paz, as we've come to be known is a small (we have only 5 private rooms), intimate and friendly "Boutique Backpackers" in a restored Victorian house set in an inner city garden oasis, a short walk from the city centre, the Tatham Art Gallery and the Natal Museum. Enjoy a fine breakfast ( croissant, creamed eggs, smoked salmon and real coffee or a choice of teas ) and then walk off into the city. Wander further afield and enjoy the green spaces and ancient trees of the Botanic gardens. Return to a candlelit dinner, wine and good conversation under the chandelier and then drift off into dreamland between crisp sheets in your own room. We're well situated for day trips to Durban (1 hour), the Drakensberg (11/2 hours) or the Midlands Meander. Travelling on your own or with someone we charge per person so singles get lucky and have their own room. We're a Baz Bus Stop and ticket agent.
From inland/Johannesburg take the Peter Brown off ramp, turn right at the stop sign and stay with this down the hill into the city where it becomes Chief Albert Luthuli. Continue straight through the city. One block past MacDonald's(on your left) turn left into Prince Alfred St. We're 200m down on the right. From the coast/Durban take Alan Paton off ramp and continue straight into the city. At the first traffic light( shell petrol station on the right) after the old cemetery turn right into Prince Alfred St. We're 200m down on the right.
