Route 62 is the tourist route in South Africa's Western and Eastern Cape that meanders between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth. It offers a shorter, scenic alternative to the N2 highway and there are a lot of spectacular sightseeing opportunities along the way. The route meanders through some of South Africa's most fertile valleys and you will find some of the country's leading wine regions here, and numerous wineries offering everything from wine tours, wine tasting and excellent restaurants and picnic spots. Make regular stops along Route 62 to indulge in the fine local produce and taste the reds and whites along the extended wine route in this region, stretching from Cogmanskloof outside Montagu in the west, as far as the hamlet of De Rust near Meiringspoort in the east. The Breede River gives life to the Robertson and Worcester Wine Valley. Further along the way the Klein Karoo Wine Route offers some excellent wineries and game reserves, cultural tours, museums, hiking trails and more daring activities such as mountaineering, canoeing and horse (an ostrich!) riding. A newer attraction, the R62 Brandy Route, is also situated here. Arrive thirsty!

Fantastic base to explore the Route 62 and surrounding towns. Wine tasting, river rafting and mountain hikes are just a few ways to enjoy the country life.
