The Wild Coast in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa is an untamed wilderness. It is an incredible, unassuming combination of breath-taking coastline, craggy cliff faces, wild and desolated beaches, secluded bays and green rolling hills – a sightseeing wonderland for visitors. Some 18 rivers find their way into the ocean along this strip! There’s a wide range of accommodation to suit all tastes and budgets. Notable sightseeing landmarks include cultural tours to Umtata and Qunu (former president Nelson Mandela's birthplace), the centre of Xhosa culture. The Wild Coast is an adventure destination where you can really enjoy swimming, scuba diving, snorkeling and surfing. Hiking in this region is something special. The Wild Coast Meander and Wild Coast Amble are both hotel hiking trails. The Strandloper is a conventional hiking trail and the Amadiba Trails, operating in the north from Port Edward, is a horse riding and hiking trail worth investigating.
